Privacy Policy

Last updated: 17 July 2026

1. Introduction

This Privacy Policy explains how Barq Connect, a customer-conversation platform operated by Barq Technology ("Barq", "we", "us", or "our"), collects, uses, shares, and protects information in connection with the Barq Connect service and website (the "Service").

Barq Connect lets businesses manage customer conversations across channels such as WhatsApp, Instagram, Facebook Messenger, Telegram, website live chat, email and SMS from a single team inbox. By using the Service you agree to the practices described in this policy.

2. Who we are (Data Controller)

The Service is provided by Barq Technology, based in Riyadh, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

For our business customers, Barq Connect acts as a data processor that handles end-customer conversation data on our customers' behalf and under their instructions. Each business customer remains the data controller of the conversations conducted through their account.

  • Company: Barq Technology
  • Address: Olaya St – King Fahd District, Riyadh 12271, Saudi Arabia
  • Contact: info@barq-tech.com

3. Information we collect

We collect the following categories of information:

  • Account data: name, business name, email address, phone number and login credentials of the agents and administrators who use Barq Connect.
  • Customer & contact data: information about the end customers your business communicates with, such as names, phone numbers, email addresses, social handles and profile information provided by the connected channels.
  • Message content & metadata: the content of conversations exchanged through connected channels (including WhatsApp, Instagram, Messenger, Telegram, live chat, email and SMS), together with metadata such as timestamps, delivery status, channel identifiers and attachments.
  • Usage & device data: log data, IP address, browser type, pages viewed and actions taken within the Service, used to operate and secure the platform.
  • Cookies & similar technologies: used to keep you signed in and to understand how the Service is used.

4. How we use information

We use the information we collect to:

  • Provide, operate and maintain the Service and its features such as the shared inbox, automation and reporting.
  • Deliver and route messages between your business and your end customers across connected channels.
  • Provide AI-assisted features such as drafting replies, summarizing conversations and translating between Arabic and English.
  • Authenticate users, prevent fraud and abuse, and keep the platform secure.
  • Provide customer support, send service-related notifications and respond to your requests.
  • Analyze and improve the performance, reliability and usability of the Service.
  • Comply with legal obligations under applicable Saudi law.

5. Messaging platforms & third-party services

Barq Connect integrates with third-party messaging platforms — including Meta Platforms (WhatsApp Business Platform, Instagram and Facebook Messenger), Telegram, email and SMS providers — so that your business can receive and send messages through them.

When you connect one of these channels, we receive and process the data necessary to deliver those conversations to your inbox, in accordance with the terms and policies of the relevant platform. We only use data obtained from these platforms to provide the Service to you, and we do not sell it or use it for advertising.

Access tokens and credentials for connected accounts are stored securely and used solely to operate the channels you have connected. We use a limited number of trusted infrastructure and sub-processors (such as hosting and messaging providers) that are bound by confidentiality and data-protection obligations.

6. Sharing & disclosure

We do not sell your personal data. We share information only in these limited circumstances:

  • With sub-processors and service providers who host and operate the Service on our behalf, under contractual data-protection obligations.
  • With the messaging platforms you choose to connect, as required to deliver your messages.
  • When required by law, regulation, legal process, or a lawful request by a competent public authority in Saudi Arabia.
  • To protect the rights, safety and security of Barq, our customers and the public, and to enforce our terms.
  • In connection with a merger, acquisition or sale of assets, in which case we will notify affected customers.

7. Data retention

We retain personal data for as long as your account is active and as needed to provide the Service. Business customers can configure retention settings for conversation data within their account.

When an account is closed, we delete or anonymize the associated personal data within a reasonable period, unless a longer retention period is required to comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, or enforce our agreements.

8. Data security

We apply technical and organizational measures designed to protect personal data, including encryption in transit, access controls, role-based permissions, and monitoring. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, but we work continuously to safeguard the information entrusted to us.

9. Data location & transfers

Barq Connect is built to keep customer data within the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and can be deployed on in-Kingdom infrastructure to support data-residency requirements. Where any processing takes place outside the Kingdom, we do so only in line with applicable Saudi data-protection regulations and with appropriate safeguards in place.

10. Your rights

In line with Saudi Arabia's Personal Data Protection Law (PDPL), you may have the right to access, correct, or request deletion of your personal data, to object to or restrict certain processing, and to withdraw consent where processing is based on consent.

If your personal data was collected by a business that uses Barq Connect (for example because you messaged that business), that business is the data controller and you should direct your request to them; we will assist them as their processor. To exercise your rights with Barq directly, contact us at info@barq-tech.com.

11. Data deletion requests

You can request deletion of your personal data held in Barq Connect at any time:

  • Email info@barq-tech.com from the address associated with your request, with the subject line "Data Deletion Request".
  • Include enough detail to identify the relevant account, channel or conversations (for example the phone number or social handle used).
  • We will verify the request and delete the applicable personal data, and instruct our sub-processors to do the same, within a reasonable period unless we are legally required to retain it.

If your data was collected by a business using Barq Connect, we may forward your request to that business as the responsible data controller.

12. Cookies

We use essential cookies to keep you signed in and to operate the Service, and limited analytics cookies to understand and improve usage. You can control cookies through your browser settings; disabling essential cookies may affect how the Service works.

13. Children

The Service is intended for businesses and is not directed to children. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, please contact us so we can remove it.

14. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we make material changes, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page and, where appropriate, notify you through the Service.
